A Legacy of Love, Care & Community Healing
The Beginning of a Lifelong Commitment
In the heart of Chandeir, Gorpara Union, Manikganj, just 60 km from Dhaka, a dream began to take shape—a dream of accessible, compassionate healthcare for all. What started as a heartfelt initiative by one devoted family has now blossomed into a holistic development organization impacting thousands of lives.
Sahera Hasan Memorial Trust (SHMT) was founded in memory of loved ones, inspired by a vision to bring hope and healing to rural Bangladesh. At its core is Sahera Hasan Memorial Hospital (SHMH)—a 20-bed facility delivering specialized care, surgeries, women’s health services, and neonatal care to underserved communities.

The Family Behind the Mission
What makes SHMT unique is its deeply personal origin. This trust is not run by distant boardrooms but by a close-knit family united by values of love, sacrifice, and service.
Here are some of the remarkable individuals who built this dream:
Prof. Dr. Rowshan Ara Begum, Chairperson – A visionary, educator, and role model whose unwavering dedication made the impossible possible.
Late Hosne Ara Dilu, Treasurer – The family matriarch who guided her siblings with strength and grace.
Mir Mohsin Ali, MD – Serving on the ground, four days a week, as the medical director in the village.
Late Mir Liakat Ali, a passionate coordinator who maintained lasting relationships with doctors and patients alike.
Other committed members: Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, Ferdousi Ara Begum, Mir Monsur Ali Samad, Mir Sobhan Ali Biplob, and Mir Omar Ali—each contributing tirelessly in their own way.
Together, they transformed personal loss into a platform for healing and community upliftment.
