Every day, 18 women in Bangladesh lose their lives to cervical cancer—a disease that is both preventable and curable if detected early. At Sahera Hasan Memorial Hospital, we offer free VIA tests and continuous awareness to protect women’s health across rural communities.
🔹 What is VIA?
Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is a simple, low-cost screening method for detecting precancerous changes in the cervix. It takes only a few minutes and gives immediate results—no labs or machines needed.
🔹 Why It Matters
Women in rural areas often suffer in silence from genital infections, white discharge, foul-smelling discharge, or lower abdominal pain—common symptoms that may be early signs of cervical disease.
Early detection through VIA can prevent cervical cancer before it starts.
🔹 Services We Offer
Free VIA test for women of reproductive age
Treatment of genital infections (for both husband & wife)
Counseling for postmenopausal and high-risk women
Cancer awareness sessions in OPD every Friday
Follow-up for positive VIA cases and referrals if needed
🔹 Trained Team
Our nurses and staff have been specially trained in Dhaka to perform VIA efficiently and respectfully. They ensure:
Privacy and dignity for every woman
Immediate feedback and next steps
Regular monitoring and support
🔹 Vaccination Program
In 2013, we initiated a special vaccination campaign against cervical cancer for school girls aged 10 and above.
Over 80 girls vaccinated free of cost (value: BDT 6,000 each)
Goal: Expand to 20 girls/month
Partnered with community schools for outreach
